A small separate rechargeable coin like battery that was just to keep the clock going. Normally, they should last a least a few weeks to a few months if the main battery is dead. If the main battery is dead I've had mine work fine 6mo+ later. Your battery could just have lost it's charge most likely.

Ironically in early versions of Sentinel you could set the "Keypad Lock" option to On for the SDS100 and the keypad would be actually be locked after writing to the scanner so *part* of the keyboard ...SDS100 DMR & NXDN upgrades. The overwhelming majority of Uniden scanners are sold and used in North America. That is what determines the system types and features. TETRA is a niche system type in North America, whereas ProVoice (EDACS) was fairly widespread, and still is to some degree.W2GLD. I ran the SDS100 alongside the IC R30 for three hours yesterday in my office. The IC-R30 far outperformed the SDS100 and rarely stopped, opened squelch without good clear voice traffic. On noisy or poor voice traffic some were unintelligible on the SDS100, the IC-R30 still had impressive clear audio.The message says that my SDS100 is up to date. It has firmware 1.10.00 and sub version 1.02.01. The Sentinel update to 2.03 went fine and now has the new tuning steps for custom searches, but I don't have any need for them. The port needs to supply 1A for run-only, or 2A for run + charge. If your computer can't supply 1A minimum, you need to use a powered hub. That's the 100's voltage display reading when disconnected. The SDS100, handheld brother, has the same display format, just smaller and narrower. It also uses a battery pack instead of AA batteries. The newer SDS100/200 models are basically programmed and work the same way as the 436/536 models with a few extra features.Look at the specs for the bottom one, that comes with a cable. It's 5 volts at 3.4 amps. Of the other two, the top one is 4.8 amps, and the second one is 4.8 amps, or if using both ports, 2.4 amps per port.
